there are many liquid 'wall paper remover' products - usually much easier than a homemade mixture or renting a steamer
My preferred method is to score and steam. Any tool rental will have what you need!

It depends on what kind of wallpaper, is it vinyl or paper. I have removed a lot of wallpaper by just soaking it with warm water, let soak in and repeat. Then start removing carefully in as big pieces as you can. The top layer will come of and leave a thin layer of paper in places. Wet again and remove easily with a large plastic putty knife. Good luck. Cheap and easy.
use a spray bottle with warm water and dawn dish soap (just a drop or two). Spray and peel.
Borrow or buy a small steamer & work on it section my section. you'll need a scoring tool as well. Then spray on a solution of vinegar, dish soap, & fabric softener, mixed with warm water- equal parts. Then scrap & peel.
