use painters tape to create a pattern then spray paint and carefully remove the tape.

you can use fabric paint to make something really gorgeous
you can try 'scarves' or 'wall or wrapping paper. and there are also kits for this...I have used wrapping paper several times. a little hot glue and its like new.
