If you want to write on wine glasses for a party, they are called glass markers and all the Home ware stores have them. If it is for crafting, and you want permanent, you look at a place like Michaels for permanent glass markers
I always use sharpies, but usually it is on containers that have pasta and such in them. Alcohol will remove it if you need to change what is written on the glass.
