you could make a silicone mold of the Palm thingy and then mold your bowl using the mold. Your bowl could be made out of resin, concrete, felted wool, hard candy (make syrup and pour), ice, etc.
I hope that helped spark some ideas!
😊
Never tried this but you could most likely take the palm bark and put in hot water to soften. Shape them around a bowl to mold them and then when dried E6000 them together and seal them with polyurethane. If you want to use as is why go thru the added expense of making a mold? Sand it down and then seal, or use the hot water to reshape. I have seen people make different things out of palm bark.
Google "what to make from palm bark" There is a lot of inspiration. I saw one "bowl" and it looked like they did the hot water bath to reshape it and it came out beautifully. Not sure if this helps, Good luck with your project.
Tear/pull them into strips, lay them in warm water for a bit and weave a mat. Fold the edge strips back into the weaving to keep the strips together. Then you could press that mat in between two bowls, maybe with some weight in the top bowl. When they dry out, they should keep the bowl shape and you could seal it (maybe even with a non shiny sealer to keep the natural look).I made a round basket out of these tough guys and it lasted forever. The palm pieces are tough, but they split along the grain very easily.
Same to you and yours Pau_leona :) Hope you post what you did with your bark :)
Paul_leona I went back just out of curiosity to see if Pinterest had the link to the instructions for the "tray / bowl" I saw and they did. Easy peasy. With yours you may have to reshape the bark. Below is the link to that instruction :)
DIY- Make a Palm Leaf Tea Light Holder
This palm "blossom pod" makes a great decorative piece for your walls. First, clean with soap and water and lay out in the sun to dry. Then cut off the bottom. Coat with some clear varnish. The clear varnish allows the warm wood look to really look good. The use a small pc. of wood and place it in the bottom and then put some really colorful tropical looking blossoms in it and hang it vertically (put a D-ring on the back).
Hi I have them in my yard to. I use glue tac on the bottom to steady it on a table or out door cupboard and I put tea lights in them if we have visitors over for a BBQ you could also put them in the garden with candles in them to give your garden a nice effect
I also have some hanging from a tree..i thought about trying to use as edging and even plant some flowers.I was going to saw mine off and throw away but these projects have sparked my curiosity..😉
I wrapped the end that was bigger with jute rope and put a tropical silk arangement I chose and hung beside my door one on each side. But this was inside. I got may complements.
