What should I spray on a diy dried eucalyptus wreath?

The eucalyptus is natural. The colors are not. They are either sprayed on, or the branches have been soaked in dye. They are going to bleed, and stain your door, unless you take action to:

1. Swap the colored out for plain eucalyptus.

2. Spray the whole arrangement from every direction. Clear sealer will be fine in short misty sprays, several times.

3. Do this outside. Not only will the paint smell be strong, the eucalyptus is often preserved in formaldehyde.

4. Make a plastic cover for the arrangement. When it rains, it pours, and so will your arrangement.

I would try soaking/washing/rinsing the color away. Maybe 'Rit Dye' color remover could salvage your work of art.

Spray a quality sealer on it and put fresh sprigs in as needed for maintaining the scent.

I would use a spray acrylic on it.

Anything you spray on it will eliminate the nice smell. What about putting a liner behind it so it doesn't bleed on the door?

I sprayed Crystal clear on mine and it bled all over my front door AND on the rest of the wreath ruining the ribbon and some of the flowers. I don't know if I sprayed it well enough though. I thought maybe spraying it was what caused it to bleed and I was going to replace the old eucalyptus with fresh and NOT spray it this time but now I know different. Have any of these suggestions on spraying it with...acrylic....a clear sealer...whatever... been tried out and proven successful, or are they just suggestions? Anyone, please let me know. Thanks

The most budget option is to varnish. But you have to redo the whole door.

Spray it with clear sealer to prevent the bleeding of color. I don't think you will keep the fragrance though.

In the old days, you could use hairspray to seal them. Today there are spray sealers that will preserve the flowers. As for the smell, you might want to add a few drops of scented oil to a diffuser and give your wreath a light mist.

Spraying it will make it not smell good anymore. What about some type of backing or barrier of some sort between the door and the wreath?
