I had thought of decorating with the peel and stick glass look tiles, the ones people are using for back splash. I don't think they would be too heavy. Depends on the lamp you are putting the shade on. For my son in laws room when he was younger. I cut stencils of horses out of black construction paper and put them on the inside of the shade. Really looked cute when the light was on.
You might want to check your local fabric shop for trims in a color to match the lamp shade for added texture or look for a trim in accent colors to pull in colors from your room. There are different fabric glues which should easily adhere the trim along the edges of the shade or where ever you wish to place it. They should be easy to work with and avoid damaging your shade. Be certain to begin and end the trim on the shade where a natural "seam" would be in the shade
If you're going feminine...I used the bottom lacy part of an old slip. just cut it and hot glued it to the lamp shade. Its beautiful
The shade is white, I want something a bit more decorative, but that is a very good idea as well. Ty! For sharing.
Decoupage a map on it.
What is your decorating style? Country? Modern? Shabby Chic? Need more info to answer.
So many possibilities. I did a set of lampshades for a friend that had silk flowers hot glued all over them for a shabby chic living room.
Dip it partially in Rite dye for an ombre look.
Get some little feathers and some waxed cotton thread and sew random feather tassels on it.
I did a shade for a friend where I glued lace fabric on the inside of the shade, and when the light was on a faint lace design appeared. Very subtle.
