A jar, a spray can and some twinkle lights.... a quick and easy way to create a night light for a kids room!

To make this I used a glass clip top jar. This one was from IKEA but they are so inexpensive to purchase from many stores.

To frost the jar I used a can of frosted glass spray. This was the most expensive item for this project but for multiple projects it would work out cheaper.

I applied two light coats of the frosted glass spray, keeping about 30cm away from the jar to prevent it from being applied in a thick layer.

This was after two coats. However, one area had gone on too thick and there were some runs. I ended up removing the entire coat with a kitchen scourer and water. Thankfully it all came off easily and I was able to start again.

This time I took the lid off which made it much easier to apply the spray paint and it went on smoothly all the way around. I applied two light coats initially and after 20 minutes or so I reapplied another coat as per the instructions on the can.

Once the frosted glass paint was dry completely I put the jar back together. I took some battery powered twinkle lights (found in any dollar store) to put inside.

This is the finished look with the lights inside the jar.

The finished effect! I love how the frosting changes the texture of the jar which created a much more subtle look for this space.

This was so simple and easy to make and since I have the can of frosted glass spray it would be very cost effective to make more.

These would be perfect in any kids room and can be adapted for different looks! One idea would be to cut out black paper to stick inside to create a silhouette of characters or shapes.
