Refresh Old Frayed Towels

Do you own old frayed towels? We have quite a few old towels, at least twenty years old or more. They work just as well as when bought, but look distinctly tired. I hate to throw them away but wouldn’t put them out for guests! There is no need to throw them away. Give your towels a new lease of life, add some personality with your own custom bias binding. This project is perfect for using up fabric scraps.
Gather up your towels, and lots of gorgeous fabric scraps. You can customize your bias binding to suit you. I have chosen lots of bright fabric scraps, to use what I have and add a splash of colour. Alternatively, you could choose to make bias binding from just one fabric. Even create different edges for different members of the family.
To make your own bias binding you will be cutting diagonally across the grain of the fabric.

If you are using up scraps of fabric firstly press, then sew strips together.
Cut strips of fabric 13/4" wide. A piece of paper folded diagonally gives a good guide for the angle against the grain.
Sew your strips of fabric together and then press using a bias binder maker.
Sew your bias binding around the edge of your towel. For detailed instruction as to how to do this visit my blog here.
Twice I have had a towel "borrowed" by someone else at a public swimming pool, this is never going to happen to me again with my own unique towels.

If you don't want to do this or can't do this to your old towels, PLEASE don't throw them away! Take them to your local animal shelter! They will welcome them!!
