Repurposed Old Wooden Door Into Four Decor Pieces.

I absolutely love old wooden doors!! I’m on a mission to replace all my hollow core doors with vintage wooden ones. But this post is about creating four different pieces of decor from one very old wooden door that I purchased for $5.00.

If you keep your eye out you just might find them on the side of the road.

The first piece I made was a fire place cover. I measured my opening and cut the door in half including the vintage knob just for looks. Be sure to scrape down any peeling paint and seal with an acrylic poly.

I like the way this looks. It blocks the big black hole under my mantle.

For the 2nd project I popped the center pieces out of the other half of the door. I again scraped the excess paint and sealed with poly. I put this mantle looking piece on my apothecary cabinet and it adds instant charm.

The third piece I added above a doorway as a decorative trim piece.

This section was one of boards that I popped out of the second half of the door. I simply cut a little design in it at each end to give it some interest.

All of a sudden it looks like an architectural piece.

For the last piece of decor I used one of the extra door slats to make a centerpiece.

Other than scraping off the excess paint and sealing it, there was nothing else I needed to do with this piece.

There you go. Four pieces of interesting decor from one old door. Don’t overlook those old doors in shops or on the side of the road. The possibilities are endless!!
