Repurposed Tic-Tac Container

I don’t know about y’all but my purse is a jungle. No really—when my husband needs something from me and I tell him it’s in my purse, he hands me my purse because he refuses to hunt for whatever it is he needs. One item that I always have on hand (of course my husband doesn’t look for these though!) is a bobby pin…or 50…the problem is that I might have purchased 50 but when I need them, I can’t ever find them because they’re buried in my purse or makeup bag. I finally found a solution to my problem and the best part is that it’s inexpensive and can be made to match my style.

SUPPLIES:
-Tic-Tac container (I used the large one because I liked the shape of it…I found them at register at WalMart.)
-Rustoleum Metallic Satin Nickel spray paint
-washi tape

STEP 1: Spray paint top
First, I took the top completely off the Tic-Tac container and lightly sprayed two coats of paint—allowing the first coat to dry completely before applying a second coat.
STEP 2: Add washi tape
Next, I took some washi tape that I had on hand and wrapped strips of it around the clear part of the container. If you want an alternative, you can use the eraser-end of a pencil and dip it in paint to create polka dots or use painter’s tape to create a design and paint the exposed areas of the container. I loved how the washi tape was so easy to use and it made a statement.

Now no more searching for bobby pins in my purse! This little container can also be used to hold push pins or paper clips at your desk, or you can also use it to hold jewelry you don’t want to get lost when you’re traveling (I know, sometimes I’ll have more than one pair of stud earrings or rings that I never know where to store when I pack for fear of them getting lost).
*The time for this project includes drying time for the spray paint. If you have to purchase all supplies for this project, you will likely spend approximately $10 but you will be able to use the spray paint and wash tape for multiple containers/uses.
