Resin Sunset Geode Coaster
After buying some resin and having a play about I was confident in creating a much larger item and I came up with this coaster design. I was just experimenting with combining colours and seeing what kind of effect I would get. I really love this coaster and it’s available to buy in my Etsy shop. I hope you like this easy project and have ago at creating your own coaster. Please follow me on hometalk, Instagram and Etsy to see more.

Before
Its hard to believe what kind of things you can create using resin. This is the brand I use from Amazon
Firstly I mixed 50ml of resin and hardener in a plastic cup. I let this mixture settle for 5 minutes to let the bubbles settle and rise to the top to pop them.
I brought some affordable resin pigments from Amazon and put a few drops of each in separate cups.
Next, I split the resin mixture that I had left to settle and poured it in each cup and gave these a good stir. I added more drops of pigment if the colour wasn’t vibrant enough.
This is the silison mould I brought from Amazon. They come in a pack of 4 at just £8.
To create the sunset effect I poured each colour starting with the red into the mould. Working my way from the outside to the middle. I poured slowly to reduce the amount of bubbles and to stop the colours from mixing together so much.
Heres my coaster after adding all the colours. However I felt like there was something missing and decided to mix a small amount of resin and hardener together and add some gold flakes and glitter.
I poured the gold resin mixture into the middle of the yellow and let my coaster set for 24 hours.
Finished
Tuck my coaster out it’s mould and it’s complete. Although the colours have blended quite a bit I still love how it turned out. Let me know what you think. Also this piece is available in my Etsy shop for just £5.50
