Linked below is to our website, where we reference a good video to watch before doing the DIY.

You can wash your drop cloth to soften it up first or use straight from bag. If you choose to prewash, Wash in HOT and let it soak in fabric softener for about 30mins or longer. Finish washing cycle. Tumble dry and iron, really well after.
1) Remove seat from the chair (Be careful, don't lose the screws)

2) Remove staples from Fabric Liner.

You will need to use staple remover or as I used a flathead screwdriver & pliers to pull out the old staples.

3) Remove your old fabric (same as removing the liner)

4) Cut your new fabric to the size you need. You can use your old fabric as a template if necessary. Make sure you cut a little larger than old fabric, allowing wiggle-room.
If your chair has a thin fabric on it like ours did (thin washable vinyl-like fabric), just put your new fabric (drop cloth) over the old fabric. We wanted our foam to remain protected. You may want to consider purchasing a thin waterproof type fabric to place over your foam seat, especially if you have little ones in the house. If you have thick upholstery on your chairs, definitely remove it, because it will get too thick to reattach seats to chairs. Our foam was in great shape, so we didn't need to replace it.
5) Fit your new fabric onto the seat and staple to secure. Cut away extra fabric.

6) Attach your old upholstery liner or use new liner, staple to complete.
7) Spray with Scotch Guard (as directed on can) and set to dry.
8) Reattach the new seat to your chair.
This was our first time ever trying to reupholster. It took 40 minutes to do two chairs. Not including the drying time for the Scotch Guard (approx. 1 hr.). The 9' x 12' is large enough to do 6-8 dining room chair seats (Type of chair & size seen in photos)
