We travel a lot and picking rocks from places we stopped was my routine. I wrote the dates and names of the place where they came from.....here are some of them.
My collection before we're coffee mugs from different states and now almost complete so I decided to collect rocks and stones from different places we stepped on.

I washed them well with soap and water to remove dirt and dust.
After drying I wrote the name of the place where I picked it plus the date.
We sometimes get extra sizes for my other ideas.
I use acrylic paints, modge podge, sharpie, paint brushes and some paper towels.

I usually coat all the rocks with white acrylic before painting with other colors that I like. Then I use sharpie in writing the name of places and dates. After few minutes of drying, I coated them with modge podge to give a glossy effect and to protect them from scratch.
I still have some more to paint as you can see. By the way, the flowers in the orange vase is my wedding bouquet when we get married August 6, 2011.
Suggested materials:
  • There's no extra cost on these collections as long as you have your kids sharpie and left over acryl
