Scrap Fabric Boho Lamp
Recycling & Upcycling is very close to my heart. I always look for ways to use the things around the house. I have been eying this colorful BOHO lamp shade for some time now, in the shops. I had to DIY it. This is a very simple project and lifts up the mood of the space instantly. This is what I made.
Isn't this so colorful & Beautiful. You will be surprised to know what I used to make this lamp shade. Here one more version.
Materials Required:
Scrap Fabric
Glue gun
Pair of scissors
A glass bottle
Bulb & holder
Plant pot
Tassels or lace to decorate
I have used an old plant pot for this project
Check the length of the fabric you need for the pot
Cut 1 inch strips of fabrics, little longer than the measured length.
Fold the sides of the fabric and stick them, so they have a neat finish.
Fold all the strips and keep them ready.
Make a hole at the base of the pot so the wire can be passed through.
Stick the fabric strips from the top of the pot
Fold the extra length inside the pot and stick.
Stick the fabric strips, overlapping each other slightly.
This is how it looks once you finish gluing down the fabric all around the pot.
Add any kind of tassels or lace to give it that added BOHO look.
Cover the top of the pot with a fabric piece. Be sure to make the hole through the fabric too.
Pass the wire through the hole from inside, so that the holder is inside the pot
Fix the light bulb to the holder. Your lamp shade is almost ready.
Take a glass bottle of any shape to use as the base for the lamp shade.
Paint it in a color of your choice. I have been obsessed with teal lately.
Cut 2 skewers to fit snuggly across the pot (diameter of the pot)
Make a hole through the lid of the bottle so that the skewers can be inserted.
I used a heated rod to make hole in the plastic lid
Fix the skewers in this manner. Also make another hole on the side to bring the wire out.
This is how we will fix the skewers and our lampshade will sit on this.
Finally, place the bulb onto the lid, bring the wire out through the hole. Use some cardboard around the bulb to secure it on the lid and make it more sturdy. Now our lampshade can be placed on.
Isn't this the most easiest way of fixing a bulb & lampshade on a bottle?
And there is our gorgeous, colorful, scrap fabric lamp. Hope you enjoyed the tutorial. You can also watch the video tutorial to get a better understanding.
