Spray Painted Lamps: A How-To Guide

2 Materials
If you've ever wanted to change the color of a lamp base but weren't sure how, discover the technique here!
This lamp started out blue...now it's an attractive oil-rubbed bronze!
Thanks to the wonders of spray paint, you can easily change colors like a chameleon! But you'll want to make sure you're being safe and doing it the right way. To find out how, read on...I'm using the white lamp below for the purposes of demonstration only (I was so eager to get going on changing the color of the blue lamp that I forgot to snap a few pics of it first!).
Painter's tape to the rescue! Be sure to cover the switch, receptacle area, and any potential areas of entry first. Don't forget to cover the cord -- at least 6 inches of it.
Now you're ready to spray paint. You should do this outdoors and use a ventilator mask.
Spray paint evenly and let dry between coats. Do not layer on thickly, as this will create drips.
A few even coatings, and you're good to go! Add a great lamp shade that complements the new color of your lamp, and you're done. Enjoy the beautiful glow...
