Spring Inspired Butterfly Decor
With spring just around the corner I have been feeling inspired to make a few little decor pieces to add to my home, and although it’s not quite spring yet my home has been looking a little bare since removing all of the winter holiday decor.
I didn’t have any plans or ideas as to what I wanted to make, so I took a look around my home, gathered a few inspiring supplies and got to work.
Read below to see what I came up with, and how I styled the end result.
The first thing that I spotted in my craft supply stash was this wooden box (remnant from one of children's toys). I decided to start with that and my plan was to create some sort of shadow box/framed art display.
As I continued to search through my supplies I spotted a few metallic butterfly wall decals, and I thought they would add the perfect spring touch to my project!
Next I decided to paint the background a pretty pale pink. I used painters tape along the edges to make sure that I didn’t get any paint on the frame.
The background was looking a little bland, so after the pale pink paint dried I used more painters tape to create a striped pattern.
I used a darker shade of pink to paint in the stripes.
When I peeled the painters tape off, I was very happy with how this project was looking.
I played around with the placement of the butterflies before gluing them down. I used a glue gun to secure them onto the frame.
And this is how my quick little DIY project turned out. I think it adds the perfect spring touch, and I also think that it would look sweet displayed in my daughters room after.
I am always pleasantly surprised with the results of these spontaneous little projects, and I am happy to have a new piece of decor to add to my spring collection.
