Super Easy DIY Pine Cone Fire Starters!

10 Minutes
Easy
I feel like I might be the last one to hear about these but when I searched on Hometalk, I didn't find them! Just one awesome Hometalker who described how to do it but didn't add any photos. This craft is beautiful in its simplicity and such a great winter hostess gift to have on hand!
All you need is : pine cones, cupcake wrappers, tea-light candles, and a baking sheet. My 4 and 6 year old (with supervision) did everything but put the tray in and out of the oven.
1. Take candle out of its metal cup and remove the metal plate at the bottom.
2. Then place each candle in a cupcake wrapper and place on the baking sheet. Put them in a warm oven.
3. Move the wicks over to the edge so they’ll still be usable.
4. Stick the pine cone in the wax while still hot.
5. Let cool, then remove the cupcake wrapper.
That's it! Place in a wood-burning fireplace or fire pit, light wicks, add logs and enjoy a cozy winter fire.

Does the melted wax cause a stain or oily residue on the floor of a wood burning fireplace? Thanks.

BE aware that using pinecones as firestarters will add pitch/creosote to your chimney. Make sure to routinely clean the chimney out to prevent chimney fires!
