The Easiest Way to Make a Fairy House

Why buy a teeny, tiny little fairy house, when you can make your own? Besides being a lot cheaper it’s so much fun finding things in the garden that you could use. We made this little one this morning using a cardboard beer box and a brick.
Seriously, who doesn’t have those things lying around somewhere? Luckily the one end of the brick was shaped kind of like the pitch of a roof so all I had to was chisel little bits away to make it a bit steeper.
Besides the brick and the cardboard box, we also used a sisal liner (the ones you normally use in a hanging basket) and some aluminium tape. First off we needed to create a proper roof for the brick, which is what makes the box so perfect.
If you separate the cardboard layers, and cover it with aluminium tape, it instantly converts the cardboard to sheets of corrugated steel and adds a protective layer too.
We added a little porch made from the sisal lining and doodled on a left over piece of the aluminium cardboard to make the door.
Of all the fairy houses we've made this was without a doubt the easiest. I may just build a village ;-)

Do you make your own fairy garden things or do you prefer to buy? I'd love to hear from you.

P.S. We posted the full tutorial on the blog, if you're keen to try make your own and need more information.
