I'm always scouring the shelves of thrift shops, garage sales and flea markets for inspiration, and of course CHEAP finds. So, when I came across this winter/Christmas platter, I was in LOVE.
I immediately stated searching the cake plates and dinner dishes for coordinating plates. Eureka! I found two matching plates in evergreen. Perfect! I already had a stash of mismatched wooden candlesticks on hand. I assembled all of my materials. And we are off...

Next, I spray painted the two candlesticks gold (pictured above I forgot to take a picture before I spray painted) and let them dry.

Meanwhile, I gave the platter and the two dishes a good clean. If possible, run them through the dishwasher. Once they are glued/assembled, you will only be able to had wash.

Now that the paint is dry on the candlesticks, and the platter/plates are clean, I started with the taller of the two candlesticks, applied my clear Gorilla Glue (E6000 works well here too) to the TOP of the candlestick and attached it to the BOTTOM of the second plate; and then did the same with the shorter candlestick and the smaller of the two plates, allowing these to dry completely - UPSIDE DOWN. If you try to attach each level in visual order, the weight of the plate makes it difficult to keep it in place AND level.

Once these two candlesticks are securely attached to their respective plates, now you can glue the bottom of the larger candlestick and plate to the platter. Because of the oblong shape of the platter, and the design being on one end, I decided NOT to center the first tier.

When the first tier is completely dry, then go ahead and attach the shorter candlestick and the smallest dish to the center of the dinner plate.

For a purely decorative effect, I attached a gold shot glass to the center of the smallest plate to TOP it off.
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!

HAPPY CRAFTING EVERYONE!
