When the grandchildren came to stay overnight at grandma's house, they needed a night light. So we made one. Using a tissue box, some waxed paper that was colored with alcohol inks, and some mini artificial tea lights.
You must cut out the side panels from the box so that the light can glow through the sides and top. Leave the top of the box so that it will hold the tea lights in place in the opening of the box. The bottom, and all four sides will be covered with a translucent and painted with the alcohol inks.
This translucent skin is made by dropping little bits of alcohol onto the waxed paper and then folding the paper together on to itself. The next step is to use a heat gun and gently go over the paper to melt the two layers together. It only takes a few seconds and it is ready to fit into place with the quick grip glue. Trim the paper to fit the side it is being glued to. After all pieces have been fitted onto the box, put artificial tea lights under it and turn them on. You will have a soft, warm, portable night light.
