Making a gift tag out of denim may seem a bit of a fuss for just a tag. However these monogrammed tags become a gift in themselves, they can be used as a keyring, bag label or bookmark.
All you need is a few scraps of denim, an eyelet tool, a tag template, a needle and thread, paint and bit of ribbon.
Using an existing tag as a template cut out 2 contrasting pieces of denim out with a seam allowance. Iron down the seams and then pin them right sides together.
Either by hand or preferably with a sewing machine sew round the two pieces of denim together about 3mm from the edge.
Use the eyelet tool to make a hole and to add an eyelet rivet to your tag.
With or without a stencil paint the monogram letter of your choice on the front of your tag.
Once the paint has dried, thread with ribbon and you're done.
I think these tags add a special something to a gift. Full instructions can be found here http://www.pillarboxblue.com/upcycled-denim-gift-tag/
