Directions to Create an Upcycled Farmhouse Frame

STEP ONE

Select a surface or two (frame and jar) and gather supplies in one easy to grab place. Remove the glass from the frame before beginning. Cover the surface with a coat of the Gray Sky Americana paint that comes in the kit and let it dry completely. The hardest part is being patient in between steps! While I am sharing the steps here, they also come in the kit in entiretly.

STEP TWO

The second step is really fun and the step when texture and dimension come to life. Mix together equal parts of the Gray Sky Americana paint with the Texture Sand Medium.

Apply the texture to the surface on top of the dry coat of paint from step one. This can be done with a paintbrush or a pallet knife or even a sponge applicator. Spread the mixture around until it looks the way you like best. Next, put on your patient pants and wait for it to dry.

STEP THREE

The third step allows the opportunity to create depth in the coloring of your surfaces. Paint the Vintage Effect Wash (Gray) in different areas of the surface where you would like it to be darker. Be careful not to go too heavy the first pass. It is okay to come back after step four and repeat this step for added dark accents.

STEP FOUR

Of all the steps, this one is the chance to add those pops of brightness and highlights with the Vintage Effect Wash in White. To get a look that is watered down, dip the paintbrush in the wash and a then water before applying. Next, let it dry, again!

Once your surface is dry, add a photo and reinsert the glass to complete your framed photograph. For the jar, add some water and flowers. This is a great Mother’s Day gift idea.
