Need sconce lighting but you don't want the hassle of installing special wiring in the wall? Here is your solution!
I used old cupboard doors as the foundation for this project but you could use anything, even reclaimed wood.
I drilled a large hole in each door for the cord/plug of the lamp to fit through. The cord then runs down behind the door and simply plugs into the existing walls socket. I bought two of these vintage glass lamps but again, any sconce light would work.
In my case I couldn't find two of the same light but I did find two that are from the same era with the same materials and in fact they actually look better I think than if they matched.
The doors were hung using D-rings so nothing about this is permanent. The doors can be taken off the wall like you would if you were hanging picture. If you need to replace the bulb or re-wire the light etc., you simple unplug the light and take it off of the door. This is a quick, easy solution for lighting in any part of your house but especially nice on either side of the bed.
