Wedding Decorations

I'm getting married this month! What a great time to get some diy projects done! The first decoration I started making was the flower vases for the table center piece. I had been collecting wine bottle for about a year before we got engaged because I knew I wanted to use them for a project, but I never had a specific idea in mind. Then the engagement happened and the ideas started flowing. Flower vases! One of the best parts: I had all of the materials on hand so I didn't have to spend any extra money on this project.
The first thing I did was soak the wine bottles in water to help loosen the labels. Soaking and a little bit of Goo-Gone helped get the bottles clear of any label residue.
This might not seem like an important step, but it was super helpful to tie wire around the top of the wine bottle before I went any further. Make sure to leave enough wire to tie around whatever drying rack you're going to use.
Then I dipped each bottle in a big bucket of paint. Once it was dipped to the desired length, I gave it a good spin/shake to help get the excess paint off. The paint was leftover from a house project we worked on earlier in the year.
This is where the wire became essential. I made a make-shift "drying rack" and tied the wire around the bar so they could drip dry.
I ended up with about 28 vases and I decided to go with all different amounts of paint on each bottle. Since we already had the paint and goo-gone, and the bottles had slowly been collected throughout a year, I didn't have to put any new money into this project!
This was a quick, simple, and fun project to do and I'm excited to use these as part of my wedding decorations!
