Summer is the time when most people get bored... including myself! I always find myself doing the same kind of things but ever since I created my YouTube channel, I started trying out creative DIY projects and stepping out of the box! The summer time is the perfect time to get creative and get a start on cute summer room decor, organization, and all that stuff. If you want to cure your boredom whether it's during the summer, or really any time of the year, I've got you covered!
Here is my video on some cool summer DIY projects! If you aren't into DIYing as much, I also have some fun activity ideas!

If you would like, you can also follow my step by step instructions below.
This first DIY project is what I like to call a "beach jar" and it is very easy to make!

First, find some sand from your local craft store. I happened to have some from a vacation I went on that was lying around in my room. Then, fill up a mason jar or some type of clear fishbowl halfway with the sand.
Next, take some fake flowers (or real flowers if you would like) and cut off one flower at its stem close to the petals. I got this fake flower arrangement from the craft store Michael's and it was super cheap!
Once you have done that, stick the single flower into the sand that we added to the clear bowl earlier.

And that is the finished product! It is so simple and it costs practically nothing because most of these supplies can be found for super cheap or at a local craft store. I decorated my night stand with this beach jar and I love how it turned out in the end!
This next DIY is what I like to call a DIY schedule and although it does require more supplies and effort, it is a great DIY organization idea.

First, find 7 different coloured cardstock paper sheets. I got mine at Michael's for about 99 cents each. If you want, you can even use paint chips from Home Depot or Lowe's because those are free! You will also need a blank sheet of white paper. In addition, you will also want to grab an 8.5 x 11 picture frame, I found mine at the dollar store surprisingly for super cheap!

Next, you will want to look at the month you are planning this DIY calendar for. It will all depend on the days and weeks for the next couple of steps.

Measure your white sheet of paper and divide it by 6 vertically. This will give you the approximate measurements that each small square needs to be. The first tab at the top will be about half the size of the other 5 squares. Here comes the fun part- take some scissors and cut your squares! I cut mine pretty small and I began pasting my first column of blue squares.
This is what it should look like after you have completed the first column.
Then, repeat the same steps as before, cutting 1 square for the top that is half the size of the other 5 squares. Essentially, the top row will be our days of the week while the columns and rows afterwards will represent the numbered days of the month.
I would recommend laying everything out before glueing just to make sure you don't make any measurement errors! Once you feel confident in how everything is placed and balanced, take a glue stick and begin glueing each square onto the white paper.
In total, I had 6 x 7 = 42 squares. Your final product should look somewhat like this.
Finally, begin writing the days of the week with a dry erase marker on the very top row (I wrote mine in short form). Start from Sunday (on the very left) going all the way to Saturday (on the very right).
This is the final product! It is a little bit time consuming, but it comes out super cute and you can hang it up on your wall and use it as a calendar.
Here is a snippet of another DIY I did, called a "bored jar" and it takes no longer than a couple of minutes!
Of course since it is summer, the perfect thing to do would be to go outside! Penny boarding has to be one of my favourite things to do when I'm bored.
Check out my video at the top of this post if you want some more DIY's and activity ideas on some different things to do this summer! Thank you so much for reading and/or watching!

I love, love your video and I also love that you think for yourself all the great things you can do in the summer. (including making your bed and straightening up your room) Tie dyed tops are back in so you might add that to you list. I think you would have a ball on pinterest looking and doing some of the diy project that others have done to make your room look extra special. How about adding "Look at pinterest for fun ideas" to your jar?
