Whimsically Ambient Birdcage With Ivy and Lights

My newest obsession is chalk paint and birdcages so I combined the two to create an instant cozy mood to my living room. This was one of the easiest decor projects I've done and most of the items I already had around the house!
I got a great deal on a couple of birdcages at Michael's and knew immediately that I wanted to use one to decorate my living room. I had some leftover ivy from planting my planters outside and thought that would be perfect for my birdcage since they are a climbing plant and once filled out would look beautiful climbing all over the birdcage. I planted the ivy in a terra cotta pot I found in the garage but I didn't like the overall look with the terra cotta color. So I decided to paint the pot the same color as the piece of furniture it would be sitting on.
I mixed up some chalk paint and slapped it on the terra cotta pot and it instantly made the birdcage decoration look better.
It looked pretty but it was still missing something...maybe some lights to give the room some of the cozy, warm feelings I get during Christmastime from the Christmas tree.
So I went on down to the basement storage area and pulled out my heavy tote of Christmas lights and brought out a string of battery powered led lights (with a timer even!) that I had previously used on a wreath. These lights would work out perfect!
I strategically placed the lights inside the birdcage and tada! Instant mood change to the room. Here's the finished birdcage. It creates the perfect amount of whimsical ambiance to the living room.
