Wood Bowl Makeover

I had this wood rope bowl sitting around and I just wasn’t using it because it’s not really my color scheme so I thought I’d give it one last chance before I donated it!

What do you think?

This was the before and after

All I used for this project was a little paint and some tape to change the look of this bowl!

First, I began by taping the top edge and bottom edge. The reason this is important is because if not you may get paint in areas you don't want to and the tape helps give it a cleaner look in the end.

Then I took it outside to my backyard and sprayed it with a flat black paint on top and bottom and sides trying not to spray the rope. If you don’t want over spray make sure to tape it all off.

This is how it looked.

Then I used white chalk paint and dry brushed the black parts.

When doing dry brush you dip your brush in the paint then remove most on a napkin. That’s why they call it Drybrush very little paint on the brush.

Then you drag the brush with very little pressure, if any.

This will let you see both colors making It appear old.

Then I removed the tape.

The over spray left me a perfect line down the center. Again if you don’t want this look make sure to tape off all areas.

I added some succulents and now it has a home in my home for now!

The bowl in and of itself is unique but the transformation you did in painting fits the bowl perfectly! Where did you find the bowl?

The before and after photos are like night and day. You did a beautiful job. It looks old world with an oriental flair. Great share.
