Yarn Wrapped Bottles

A few years ago I got to see yarn bombing here in Houston. Local knitting groups got together and created a temporary art installation. They created colorful yarn decorations and put them up along the bayou. I've had a huge bag of yarn that I've kept for YEARS (I tried to learn crochet when I was a kid) and I put them to good use with this fun wine bottle upcycle!
I started on the bottom of the bottle so I could hold the neck while I added the yarn. Add a few coats of thick glue about an inch up the bottle.
After you've added the glue: start wrapping!
I used a multi-colored yarn so it made these cool stripes going up the bottle! You could also do a solid color or even start with one color then switch to a different one to add bigger stripes.
The bottom of the bottle is the easiest because you can pull it tightly and move pretty quickly. When you make your way to the top of the bottle where it narrows, you'll need to slow down and not pull the yarn too tightly. If you pull too hard it will ride up and leave big gaps!
I added a few yarn pom poms to this one, but you could easily customize yours however you like! Choose your favorite colors and add whatever embellishments you like icon
