Is there anything better than a bubble bath on a RAINYDAY?

Shortly after moving into my condo, I knew I needed to add a jetted tub and create a peaceful retreat to escape to after a long week.

It has taken a while to get around to creating the bath tray that I have seen in magazines and knew would be the "cherry" on top.

The weather has been really cold on Long Island keeping me inside more than I like to be. So what better time to take on the Rainy Day Challenge. So I gathered all the materials I thought I would need

I pulled three pieces of pallet wood from my pile, two handles from my old kitchen, in my old house; and a piece of scrap wood to use to fasten the pallet wood together.

After cutting the boards to size, (I actually took the boards up to the bathroom and measured against the new jetted tub) I set about the task of sanding them as smooth as possible.

Originally, I thought I would use some paint on the boards to match the color of the bathroom; but when I was finished with the sanding, I liked the aged look, and left the boards natural.

I cut three small pieces of scrap wood to size (just enough to span the three pieces of pallet wood) Another trip up to the bathroom to get proper spacing, so they would fit INSIDE the lip of the tub, this way they would not only connect the pallet boards, but would keep the tray snug in the tub. These connector pieces are attached to the underside of the soon to be tray, with wood screws (be sure they are the right length, so they don't go thru the top of the tray).

I then added the two handles, leftover from my old kitchen renovation, candle, soap and there you have it! My rainy day bath tray.
