Boho Inspired Wall Hanging From Clothesline
The Boho theme is still going strong. This tutorial will show you how to create a large boho inspired wall hanging using some clothesline, a dowell rod and scissors.
You'll need a dowell rod of preferred length. Mine was 4 feet long. Make sure the thickness is at least 1/2" if you're making it very long. The weight of the clothesline can get a little heavy on a larger piece.
Decide on a style for your wall hanging. I chose to do a tapered version that started short on the ends and got longer towards the center point.
Determine approximately how long you want your center piece to be, then cut a piece twice that length. You'll be tying it in a knot around the rod so this will give you two hanging pieces at that length one it's assembled.
I measured the overall length of the center piece, subtracted 1" from that number, and cut two more pieces for the right and left sides.
Repeat that process, subtracting 1" each time from the overall length until you've cut all of your pieces.
You can attach them to the rod as you go or lay them out in order and tie on all at once like I did.
To attach the clothesline use a simple lark's head knot (aka cow hitch). Make sure that you even out your end lengths at the bottom.
After that I tied another basic overhand knot to keep the clothesline from slipping out of the loop.
To hang, I simply cut and tied another piece of cord to each end of the dowell. An easy DIY statement piece for around $20. This would also look awesome attached to an old branch. You could dip dye the ends for a customized look.
