Dining Room Makeover: DIY Stone Siding Accent Wall

This post was sponsored by Versetta Stone. All views and opinions are my own.

Oops I did it again, I started another room makeover before finishing the master bedroom closet.

Well really it wasn’t an oops I knew exactly what I was doing when I started browsing through the various Versetta stone siding colors & options.

I have been on a stone kick lately & I can’t seem to quit nor do I want to because our dining room needed… something.

And that something is a stone accent wall & some other things too 😉

This project is sponsored by Versetta Stone

Honestly though y’all I am not even sorry about starting this project because the entire makeover took less than a week & the stone accent wall only took me 1 day! That’s basically no time at all in the DIY world.

Let me show you what we we were working with:

It wasn’t bad per say but it definitely wasn’t us or anything really wow worthy.

So as per usual I created a design board & a To Do list & dropped every other current responsibility I had so I could tackle the dining room!

To Do List:

  • Paint
  • DIY Stone Siding Accent Wall
  • DIY Canvas Art
  • New Light Fixture
  • Decorate

Not a terrible list, just a simple makeover starting with the accent wall!

Supplies:

  • Versetta Stone (Style: Ledgestone/Color: Northern Ash)
  • 1 ½” Wood Screws
  • Chalk Line
  • Level
  • Diamond Blade
  • Miter Saw

Safety Gear:

  • Safety Glasses
  • Steel Toe Boots
  • Gloves
  • Long Sleeve Shirt

Procedure:

  1. Measure your wall & figure out exactly how much stone siding you will need. Versetta Stone has an easy material formula you can find here.
  1. The first step is to prep your wall. We removed outlet covers & removed the existing outlets because we have 3 more in the dining room alone so those 2 were not even worth dealing with.

Last time I worked with stone I had to add a water drainage system separately, but the Versetta stone panel system already has it, whew!

  1. Next use a stud finder & chalk line to mark the walls center, studs, & 24” lines to help you maintain a level install.
  1. Now it’s time to actually get started! Start by installing the stone siding to the bottom corner with the nailing flange facing up.

You can use the wood screws or nails to secure the panels to the studs.

Installing the stone siding is super simple & mess free (cue the no mortar happy dance) which is my favorite part!

  1. Measure the space for the second panel, this panel will most likely need to be ripped to size.
  1. These stone panels will need to be cut with a diamond blade!

This stone siding is made of fiber-reinforced concrete so it’s super tough & did not crack on me once!

  1. The tongue & groove interlocking system installs with a tight & feels super solid!
  1. Keep making your way up the wall working from bottom to top being sure that all pieces are still level as you continue.

The hand painted artistry of the Versetta Stone makes the siding look like real natural stone with different colors running through.

  1. Once I reached the top of the window I continued on the other side of the wall, starting from the bottom again.
  1. We installed the top panel the same way as the rest because we did have room for a small gap. You can either add trim to cover the metal plate or finish it off with a capped piece. If you aren’t quite sure yet which look is for you, (call me indecisive) you can simply paint the small gap & no one will ever notice it’s there!

Y’all how gorgeous is this stone siding accent wall?!

Versetta stone replicated the natural colors & textures of real stone to a T. Noone is going to know this isn’t the real thing!

I am super happy I took a chance & went with the Northern Ash color, it really pops against my freshly painted Alabaster walls.

This space already feels more like us & it only took us 1 day to make it happen!

The To Do list officially has two items crossed off & it feels so good!
