This month I’m working at my sister’s house, remodeling her bedrooms. My nephew is an award winning musician and a member of the football team at his high school. He has won a lot of awards and they are just thumbtacked to his wall.
Here are just some of the awards he’s won but you get the idea of how he has them displayed.
I gathered all his awards together and laid them out to see what I was working with.
I decided to begin with his name badges that he was given at music and choral festivals.
I used an 11” x 14” display case.
I took off the back and painted it black using craft paint.
While the paint was drying, I took the badges off the lanyards but kept them in the plastic cases.
Once the paint was dry, I laid the lanyards onto the board then began arranging the badges and a few pictures.
Once I decided on the layout, I used adhesive disks to attach everything to the backing.
I placed everything back into the frame.
Next, I wanted to display his varsity letters. Using another 11” x 14” display case, I removed the backing and attached his football team picture to the back using the adhesive disks.
Once I decided on the layout, I again used the adhesive disks to attach the letters and a championship patch.
I placed everything back into the frame.
He had several metals which I hung from a simple curtain rod attached to his wall.
I looped the metals over the bar and pulled them through.
He also had a poster which I put in a 24” x 16” frame.
He had another poster which I matted and framed.
I hung the poster with two awards and a metal trebel clef.
Along with a photo of his football team, I displayed his metals, varsity letters and the lanyards and badges.
Now this is the way his hard earned awards should be displayed.
