Are you looking for an inexpensive way to decorate on a budget and an easy tutorial on how to make your own wall hanging?

It’s so simple to make. I chose this natural color because it fits my decor, but you can choose whatever works for you.

You will need :

thick string to hang. I got mine from Walmart $5

Scissors

rug $4 IKEA

Dowel (depends on size) mine was Alexandria mounding 3/4 “ x 4’ $2.88

drill to drill holes

hot glue gun & glue.

A total of around $12 For the basic things minus a glue gun & sticks, drill, scissors ect.

I didn’t get a picture of the drill bit, but it was Size 16 Drill bit. Mark each end of the dowel about an inch from the end, then drill a hole.

Once hole is drilled, push the string through and tie a knot.

Before tying the other side, place wood dowel where you want it to be, then fold rug down. When you’re happy with the width, use glue gun to glue both sides together.

Using your glue gun, make a line of glue all the way along the rug just under the dowel. Press rug flap firmly to adhere both sides together.

To finish up, push the string through the other side of the dowel and tie a knot. Trim string.

That’s all there is to it, easy, inexpensive and ready to hang! I think a pretty hook would be nice to hang it up. I’ve just used a screw nail at the moment.

I love how it turned out! I’m actually doing a patterned rug for this space... pictures to follow!

Thanks for stopping by! Have fun making your own wall hanging, I promise you it’s so easy!
