Do you like simple botanical paintings or prints? I wanted something for my bedroom that had a bold background.

I've painted furniture, like this hutch but I've never tried making my own art. This piece is so easy that anyone can make it and you can get just the right color. It was really satisfying.

The steps to make this painting are pretty easy.

First paint your canvas. You could reverse it and make the stencil dark and the background light.

Painting canvas base

Let your canvas dry completely. Next, use the adhesive spray and apply it to the back of your stencil.

Spray the back of your stencil to hold it in place.

I tried two different methods for painting the stencil. The best results were with a foam roller. Next load up a paint try (or paper plate) with your accent paint. Roll the paint onto your roller but before you apply it too your canvas roll it around on a paper towel to get all the excess paint off.

Roll over stencil with foam roller

As soon as you get your stencil painted go ahead and peel off the stencil. Wait for it to dry and hang.
