Paint by the Number paintings are great! I love this one I made a few years ago and I wanted to display how cute it turned out. Problem is framing it was going to be a bit more expensive than I wanted shell out. So this is what I came up with.

The painting had about an inch and a half of clear space around the picture that I wanted to cover. I used this fashion tape, mostly because its what I had on hand but I'm also hoping that since its made for clothing, it wont discolor the edge in anyway. Just incase I decide to frame the painting a different way in the future.

I placed the tape near the edge of the painted side and then stuck down a burlap ribbon that completely covered the clear space. I think any type of ribbon would work here but I was going for a kind of rustic feel.

Then, to give the canvas some structure, I glued together two metal rulers and glued those to the top and bottom of the painting. The top set of rulers provides structure for the canvas to hang flat. The bottom set of rules act as a weight to also help keep the canvas flat.

Since the rulers were overlaped to get enough length for the entire canvas, there was a bit of a gap on one side. I simply filled the gap with scrap paper cut to fit the gap. This was just to provide a flat surface for the canvas to be glued to.

I wanted to add some flair to the art and I'm currently loving the wood bead trend so I tried to incorporate that. Along with the wood beads, I got some red and turquoise beads of varying sizes that show up often in the painting.

I spent some time working out different patterns and deciding if I should do single or multiple strands that would hang below the canvas.

Once I had selected the pattern, I used embroidery thread to pull it all together.

I had decided to place three loops below the painting. To make sure that I had enough room to glue the bead strand in place and that the beads were all still visible I left about an inch of space between where each loop would start/end. The amount of space here would vary depending on how high you planned to glue the bead strand or the size of the beads.

I measured out the length of the painting and divided by three to get the spacing for each loop and hot glued them in place.

Lastly I hot glued some twine to the top rulers, each at an equal distance from the edge to hang the painting.

And there it is!

It was a very simple and inexpensive way to hang your "Paint by the Number" or even other art!
