I really wanted an exposed brick wall when we had our extension done, however, at the time we just didn't have enough money in our budget for it.
After 6 months our extension needed redecorating due to settling cracks, so after much searching, I managed to find these brick slips at a really reasonable price and decided to give it a go myself.. keep reading and watch the link to see how it panned out!
Here is what our extension room looked like before we redecorated, I loved the colour so much but the blue just didn't go with the brick slip colour I had chosen.. so away it went...
These are the brick slips I chose, they are from a company called Kuci Design and are their London Town brick slip..
You apply the bricks like you would tiles. I bought quick dry tile adhesive and spread enough onto the wall to lay 3 rows of slips at a time. I was surprised at how easy they were to apply to the wall.. I have NEVER tiled before which just proves anyone can do this!
Once all the brick slips were on the wall, I left the whole wall to dry for a further day. I then went on to point the wall with sand and cement. I bought this pointing gun from Wickes (just their basic gun) and mixed 3 part sand to 1 part cement and gunned it into the spaces between the slips. I then ran my finger through the gaps to smooth off the sand and cement mix.
TOP TIP: Always wear a gloved to do this as otherwise.. you will lose a lot of you fingers skin!!!
