DIY Summer Art

I created 2 DIY botanicals using scraps, extra frames, and supplied I had on hand.

I wanted to add some art that would reflect the upcoming season and was looking online for inspiration. I love botanicals and think they make the perfect summertime art. When I saw a piece of my faux fern wreath had fallen off, I got inspired to DIY instead of shop.

Usually, when I find these little pieces had been knocked off, I put them in my craft supplies and use them for gift tags but today, I decided to make some art!

I found 2 unused picture frames that would work perfectly. I love that the metals are different and they are different sizes as well.

I wanted black for the background. I felt this would make the ferns fronds pop and it would be a little more modern. I used a piece of black card stock for the larger frame and a piece of black grasscloth wallpaper from a sample I had for the smaller frame. I think the different textures give them a bit more interest.

I made sure the paper was cut to the right size for the frames.

Next, I added a couple drops of glue to hold the ferns in place. I placed the m the way I wanted them and after they dried completely, I placed them in the frames.

I added tape to the back to hold the piece in place so it wouldn't move inside the frame.

Then I put the backs on! This project was so simple and I used what I had on hand.

I just love these! I think they turned out really cute and you cannot beat free!
