Before Christmas, I built this large farmhouse clock to hang on my dining room wall. The clock looked great, but since it was the only thing on the wall, the wall still looked plain. So I decided to build two DIY Wall Sconces with a Shelf built in, one for each side of the large clock.
Here are the abbreviated instructions, for full instructions and more pictures, please visit my blog at the link at the bottom of this post.

First, I cut the 1x12 boards and 1x3 boards to length and stained them with a weathered accelerator. I then attached the 1x3 boards to the 1x12 boards using wood screws.
I painted the wood lettering a turquoise color using Fusion paint.
I glued the wording onto the 1x12 board above the shelf
I attached a small screw hook into the bottom middle of the 1x3 shelf.
I then hung the hanging glass jars that I had purchased at Hobby Lobby from the hooks and added a flameless candle to each jar. Lastly I added a faux succulent plant on the shelf and hung one sconce on each side of my clock. The turquoise wording definitely adds a pop of color to the wall!

What is the weathered accelator that you mentioned? I love your work.

I really love what you did with the hanging lights, but my question is about the wall color. Could you tell me what it is, please? Thanks so much for any help.

Love the look. My question is, did you screw the shelf onto the back piece? Is that enough support to hold things on the shelf and the jar hanging under it. I am helping my friend make a shelf and trying to find a way to not use brackets

My son's first name is Brennan! (Have you seen the series "Outsiders"? It was only two seasons, sadly. Awesome show!)

I love the design! I might steal your idea.

I really like your wall sconces. And the colored letters sure do pop! Love it!
