Be honest. If you have a dog and you drop something on the floor while you're making dinner, do you even worry about it? Or do you just trust the dog will clean it up?

I thought so. Me, too.

Then you are going to love this cute and funny dog sign you can make yourself. See how, and get a free template.
Adorable, right? You can see the steps below to make one yourself. Pop over the the Single Girl's DIY website to see more images, and get a link to the free printable template, so you can make your own.
I started my project with an ugly sign I picked up at a thrift store. I just repurposed it for this project. It was about 11" x 16".

You can try your luck at thrift stores near you, or you can go to any craft store and pick up a sign blank. You will be amazed at how many different options they have for sign boards these days.
I chose to paint a black base coat, and then went over it with white. I used a fairly dry brush to do the white, because I wanted a streaked look.

Let the paint dry fully between each step.
Print out your template onto plain printer paper. Then color on the back with a pencil.
Place the template onto your sign board, and then trace over the letters. The pencil you colored on the back of the paper will transfer to the wood.
Trace over the pencil marks with a paint pen.

Color in the thicker letters, and the dog silhouette.
If you want to, you can add a little more character to your sign by adding a collar. I used a small piece of chain, secured through holes to the back of the sign with wire.
And that is how you can make your own ridiculously cute dog sign. Hang it in your kitchen, and smile every time you don't have to clean the floor.
