I like cruising the dollar store for my next new project that I didn’t know I was going to make! Well I came upon cardboard cut outs of a deer head and a unicorn. Off we went home to put them together....so what to do with them I ask myself....?
Here is the finished product, so cute....if only I had girls or granddaughter!
Heres what the package looks like! $4.00 WOW! They were supper easy to put togethe!
Gathered up some supplies. I try not to spend too much money on my projects, but I couldn’t resist this frame that I purchased at Michaels for $22.00 (x2) frames. The wrapping paper I had for many years and found it too pretty to wrap presents with so saved it for an occasion such as this. I ended up not using it as I found it too busy so I used some heavy duty craft paper that I had on hand. The spray paint I chose matched perfectly to the flowers. Also you need a piece of cardboard for the back of the frame to mount the heads.
Ok so spray painting these heads takes a little bit of patience as you have to turn them over many times, take them under different lighting to make sure you find all those hidden spots, but eventually it can be done!
Take your frame and trace around the middle onto a piece of cardboard and to that add what ever the size of under mount that you need. Make sure its fits so that you have enough to glue the cardboard onto the frame. Before you glue the cardboard in add whatever you want for your background. I used adhesive spray so I didn’t get bubbles.
The colour of the frames were very nice the way I bought them, but just not loud enough! So I spray painted them with satin black. I used E6000 clear adhesive to secure the backing of the mounts to the frames.
Also used E6000 to secure the heads onto the the backing. I did put some weight on the flat parts of the heads so they would stay put.

I love these! Adorable whimsy! At what dollar store did you find the cardboard animals?

Cute idea, but I was wondering ... wouldn't it have been easier to paint the pieces before assembling them?

Where did you get the puzzles? My dollar store doesn't have them. I want to look on line but they are expensive.
