Dollar Tree Ironing Board Sign Makeover

Dollar Tree decor pieces can usually be improved immensely with a few craft supplies. This ironing board sign I found at Dollar Tree was no exception.

The Wash & Dry ironing board sign with mini clothespins was made from very thin pasteboard, and the woodgrain on top was contact paper.

This is a 1" x 8" pine board, cut to 18".

I have used Varathane Weathered Wood Accelerator (gray) for several years now.

Today I'm trying Aged Wood Accelerator with a brown finish.

This is my board, still wet, with the new Aged Wood Accelerator.

I removed the tiny clothespins on the Dollar Tree ironing board and flipped it over for painting. I brushed on Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Drop Cloth.

I also removed the woodgrain look contact paper top layer.

I purchased this laundry stencil from Hobby Lobby a while back. It's a good size for the ironing board.

I swirled on the stencil using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.

The ironing board was nailed onto the aged wood board. A sawtooth hanger was added to the back.

Four clothespins were glued onto the ironing board and board with Titebond Glue. I let it dry overnight.

I did not seal or wax the sign or distress it. I just added a lone sock!

Other recent dollar store makeover projects include a mini clipboard photo holder and a garden photo collage frame.
