Double Sided Sign

My son moved into a new apartment and so I thought I would make him a double sided sign that he could put in his windowsill.

I started with this 2 x 10 scrap of wood. It was already cut with the angles. I took some Jacobean colored stain and stained the entire piece.

After the stain was dried I took this off-white color paint from Waverley called Plaster and dry brushed just one side.

Since it was a gift for his new apartment, I designed this saying with my Cricut machine using their Design Space program.

The vinyl I chose for this side wouldn’t have shown up very well if I would have dry brushed this side too. He and his twin sister really into plants. I found this saying, on Cricut Design Space and thought he would like it.

It’s missing something.

I thought it needed something above the words. So, I took one tumbling block from a game I got at the Dollar Tree and dry brushed it to tone down the dark color.

I took a couple pieces of lath, cut them to fit and added them on the top to make a “roof”.

I stuck an air fern on the shelf and it was done!

When I gave it to my son, I had it sitting on the counter with the Home Sweet Home side out. I told him to turn it around and I accomplished what I set out to do. He gave me a great big smile and said, “Thanks Mom!”
