"EAT" Sign With Dollar Store Letters on Reclaimed Lumber

I love any kind of reclaimed lumber project. I hope this will inspire you to spell something fun for your home décor too. I am also very thrifty and love to find Dollar Store gems that can be quickly transformed! This cost under $5 to make - you can't beat that price!
I used this cutting board as a template for the handle of my cutting board. My husband used reclaimed lumber and cut it out with his jig saw. I had him elongate the board to fit my letters.
I gently sanded the cutting board and used a tack cloth to remove the dust particles. Then, I applied some coconut oil with a dish cloth for a natural finish. It really brings out the patina of old wood.
I painted the Dollar Store letters with 2 coats of acrylic paint. Let dry. Then, used fine steel wool to gently distress each letter.
I used No Nails to adhere the letters to the cutting board.
My husband drilled a hole in the centre of the handle. I attached some twine from the Dollar Store.
This is the final product! I love the end result! I'm looking for fish patterns to make a "bait" sign for the cottage next. My boys are requesting a large mouth bass pattern. Hope this gives you some inspiration.
