Good Thoughts Sign

A friend asked me to make this sign for him that he was going to hang at the entrance to his lake house. It was a beautiful quote taken from the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. Something we all should live by in my opinion.

He gave me a large live edged piece of cedar to put the quote on. But, I forgot to get a picture of the bare wood before I sanded it down. I used my Cricut machine and cut out a stencil of the words.

Then, I used Mod Podge to seal the edges of the stencil. Although I tried sanding it as smooth as I could, I didn’t want any of the paint to seep through when I stenciled on the black paint. That would have made a lot more work for me.

I spaced out each phrase on the board.

I used this flat black paint to stencil it on, although you can use any paint.

Hopefully this will work. It always scary doing a piece for someone you know.

And yes! It worked.

After the paint dried, I put on an exterior sealer. It will be in their carport area so it is pretty well protected. But, we live in rainy, damp Washington so I wasn’t going to take any chances.

Here it is at their lake place. Looks pretty good I think. Hopefully you do too!
