Hand Lettered Canvas Sign

For October's Monthly DIY Challenge our theme was Sharpies. One of my absolute favorite things to do with these pens is to make hand lettered signs. They make it so much easier to fill in letters rather than using paint. I whipped up this little hanging canvas sign in just under an hour. I think it’s positively adorable!
I started by sewing a piece of primed canvas to the dimensions that I wanted my sign. I only sewed the top and bottom edges and made sure to leave a pocket at the top that I could slide a string into for hanging.
I whipped up a graphic on the computer, printed it out and then used my favorite transfer method to trace the image onto my canvas with a pencil. Next, I traced and filled in the outline with my Sharpie.
Then, I fished a piece of jute string through the top pocket. I used a paper clip to guide the string through the pocket. I just tied the string to the paper clip and worked it through the hole. Once the string was all the way through, I tied the two ends together and slid the knot back into the pocket so it wasn't visible.
So quick, easy, and cute as can be!
