Easy and fun way to make a statement piece for your wall! You don't need to know how to paint, and the result will still be stunning!
This is how it looks on my wall!
Using maskin tape I masked off the areas I wanted to stay white, and I painted the rest of the canvas blue as the background:
I used a grey-blue colour, mixed with white for the background:
I let one of the masked areas go across two of the other ones, to create a kind of 3D-effect, making it seem like the birches are not just all in a row:
I made sure the masked areas weren't lined straight, as no tree grows in a 90 degree angle. When the background was dry, I removed the masking from the free standing birches + the one going across:
Then I took some black paint and some brown, to make the birch pattern:
I used a bit ofcardboard, slid it through the black + the brown paint, and "rehearsed" som lines before doing it on the canvas:
I then painted the birch pattern on the canvas, dragging the cardboard piece from one side of the birch in toward the middle. I did this from both sides:
After doing the unmasked areas, I removed the rest of the masking tape and did the same on the remaining ones:
And this is the final result:
I had some blue paint left over, since I squeezed way too much out, so I painted some glass bottles as well, since I hate to waste paint! I think they will look cute with some real birch branches in them in my window cill:
