Do you love barn quilts as much as I do? I'd love to show you how to paint your own faux vintage barn quilt. There are so many different quilt patterns and it is easy to transfer one of those patterns onto wood with paint. Let me show you how.

Pick a quilt pattern. I am doing Stepping Stone by Baker-Nest. You can buy a pattern or create your own.

Begin by picking out wood with no knots.

Determine the size. Mine is 10" x 10".

Cut the board or you can have Lowes or Home Depot cut the board for you.

Now you'll want to sand your board to ensure all side are smooth before painting.

Go ahead and paint the board. I choose to paint mine white, using Fusion Mineral Paints.

Now you will want to divide the board into four even squares, by making a cross on your board using a pencil and ruler.

Now it's time to measure and mark out your pattern.

I like to mark my pattern with chalk and because I'm using more than one color of paint, I use more than one color of chalk.

Now you get to paint your pattern on your wood.

I like using frog tape to make sure that I get a clean edge.

You can also use a blow dryer after painting each step to speed the process along.

When you're all finished painting your pattern, be sure to erase all pencil marks and brush off your eraser.

Now to hang your barn quilt!

I choose to hang my barn quilt from a hook in my kitchen, so I needed to add some jute on the back with a staple gun.

I cut a 12" piece of jute and tied a knot on each end of the jute.

Then I stapled one side to the back at the corner just under the knot and then stapled the other side at the other corner.

I love how this faux vintage barn quilt turned out. I just know you'll love your's too!

Very precise work, and excellently done! You have a well-developed sense of color, too. Would love to see your kitchen (and house)!
