For a while now I have been wanting a name sign for my son’s room. Etsy has a ton of small shops that sells them, but I love making things on my own so I wanted to give it a try . Three babies later and I finally gave it a go !

Step 1: Choose your wooden board or any Nicely finished board that you can find .

There were so many options of wood boards to choose from, but I was walking around The Home Depot when I chose this 18 inch round board. I actually liked the thickness of it and I loved the color of it since I was not going to stain it. You can purchase smaller and less thick Option at hobby lobby and Michaels.

Step2: Choose your letters

There are so many letter sizes and fonts that you could choose from . I used the smaller letters for the middle names (from Michaels ) and the larger finished white letters( from hobby lobby )for the first name. You can also purchase these letters from Walmart or amazon and all around 2$ each .

The letters I used for the First name.

The letters I used for the Middle name.

Step 3: Grab your level

I used a small level to keep my words straight.

Step 4: Grab your glue and get started

I love to use the Titebond wood glue for all my projects. It hold everything so well.

Step 4: Paint your letters

I only wanted to paint the middle name letters a different color so I just went ahead and grabbed a color from my paint stash! I chose a color that matched the boy’s room.

Step 5 : Glue the middle name on !

I decided to glue the middle name a little bit further to the right. You can skip the middle name and just do the first name.

Step 6: If you want to add any other wood designs go crazy !

I bought this wooden vine wreath from hobby lobby . I cut it into 4 pieces to fit over the names .

This was the one I used from hobby lobby . I’m sure your can find other wooden leafy designs that you don’t need to cut ! I could not find the size I needed to fit over my names.

Step 7: I painted the vines gold

I used the Folkart gold paint for the bien and the wooden animals designs I purchased at Hobby lobby.

Step 8: Glue it all on and you are Done !

I added this wooden tiger design to one of the signs and I love the color combination . I was barely able

to fit this middle name because it was the longest , but no big deal I think they came out great !

This is a great way to do name signs on a budget . Name signs can get pricy and I get it ! It takes work. I hope you can follow these simple steps to make your own ♥️
