Let It Snow Sign

To encourage the white stuff to fall this holiday, I created this Let it Snow sign for my fireplace mantel. The three-dimensional snowflakes give the sign more interest than simple painted ones.
I wanted to make the sign big enough to cover the TV mounting bracket on the wall over the fireplace. I put together a series of 1x6 and 1x4 boards until they created a square about 28" big. The boards were planked together with pocket holes and screws.
I had some dark blue paint left over from my TARDIS door, so I mixed it with black to create a midnight blue color. I used a Silhouette Cameo to create the stencil.
Silver craft paint really made the stencil letters pop off the dark blue background.
For the snowflakes, I decided to give the sign a little dimension with unfinished wood snowflakes. You can find the links to where I found them in this post. I gave them a coat of silver spray paint to match the stencil letters.
I attached the snowflakes to the sign with hot glue. Use tweezers to remove any webs of glue that might be left behind.
To keep the sign in place, I attached eye hooks to the back and tied it to the TV bracket. We don't use the TV over the fireplace often, so it won't be missed during the holidays.
Because of the narrow profile of the sign, I was able to add a full garland to the mantel without it taking up too much space!
