Peelable Wallpaper- Is It Worth It?

I'm a 7 on the enneagram and if you're familiar with a seven's personality traits, we are slightly impulsive and a little fickle. It makes committing to a permanent change really hard! Like... Really hard😅. When we moved in I added a board and batton wall to our entry way and have since been contemplating what to add to the wall above it. So, naturally it sat white for the past 8 months while I scanned Pinterest for ideas.

8 months later I finally committed to a change! Yay me. On a trip to Target, I snagged 2 rolls of peelable, textured, shiplap wallpaper. Everyone loves a good shiplap, amiright?! This was the best alternative to the rising cost of wood and knew I could knock it out in a couple hours. After getting home and opening the roll, I was super excited to get started.

Best peel and stick wallpaper!

White walls that didn't incite any excitement and were just... Boring.

(Yes, I still need to add a vertical board on my wall on the left🤣).

This is the peelable wallpaper I chose. It was $35 per roll and I used 2. There is one small portion of the wall that still needs to be covered so I'll have to buy another $35 roll. But I plan on using the leftovers for my bathroom👌Not super cheap but doable!

To cover my walls I cut sheets of wallpaper that were about 2 feet (5 or so rectangles). This made it WAYYYYY easier for application. The larger the piece of wallpaper, the more likely you'll get bubbles, or tears if you need to move it.

To make sure my paper was straight I used a level. It helped majorly to avoid my wallpaper gradually angling up or down as the pieces were applied and connected.

This wallpaper was super duper easy peasy to apply. The fact that all I had to do was line up the 'shiplap' and level it out was great! I've applied patterned peelable wallpaper before and it can be tricky to find the matching parts and ends up wasting some of the wallpaper. With this I was able to use ever piece without waste.

When I applied each sheet, I peeled just a couple inches of the backing from the top of the sheet, lined it up and slowly peeled the backing off as I smoothed the paper out with this fancy tool called a hand. Peeling the backing off bit by bit helped me to avoid the bottom of the paper adhering to the wall before it was lined up or smoothed.

Then I used a super sharp razor to trim the edges for smooth and clean lines.

That's IT! I am so happy with these results. The faux shiplap adds just enough character without being overwhelming and at 6 months pregnant I was thrilled to have an easy project to complete. 10/10 would recommend! This wallpaper is thick enough that on sections I needed to peel and adjust it didn't rip, crinkle or stretch.

I might just go back and buy more for my closet because it was the best way to transform this space without paint.

Yay!
